Year by year Minnesota quietly buries her innocent citizens one at a time while the families and extended acquaintances of the murdered suffer unimaginable sorrow, trauma, regret, heartache. Nothing has the capacity to replace a life cut short by evil intent.

In 1911 Minnesota removed Capitol Punishment from the legal system. Removing the tool of Capitol Punishment for juries commissioned with accountability diminishes jury effectiveness by not providing appropriate punishment options when a citizens heinous actions warrant. People in Minnesota have debated for a century about capitol punishments ability to stop crime. When Capitol Punishment is applied for heinous crimes any intent the perpetrator has ceases; that is a deterrent. Capitol Punishment is an appropriate tool for Juries consideration. I support such a tool within the judicial process in specific cases.
